  1. When I was little, my mom and grandma would make these fabulous treats for me to take to school. As an early June birthday, I was only able to take treats on the years when we were still in school into June, which made it even more exciting. One year, they made me cupcakes with basket handles and a little pile of flowers over the top. I remember them using the flower nails to make hundreds of flowers and then assembling them carefully. I was so proud to take them in and I love that they did this for me.

  3. one of my most favorite birthdays was my 27th. my birthday is early jan. for a christmas/birthday gift my folks gave me a plane ticket to england so i could go see the english guy i was dating. he took me to dublin ireland for a week. for my birthday we spent the day roaming around dublin. we ate at this pizza place sinead o'connor used to work at. for my 'cake' we got fresh made donuts from one of the street vendors(oh so good) and we managed to squeeze in a movie- meet the parents. it was a fantastic day, though i was a little crushed he didn't propose because i thought for sure he was going to ask me to marry him that day.( he proposed a few days later)- laura

My favorite birthday memory happened a few years ago when my husband planned a surprise party for me. It was wonderful and unexpected!

  5. My favorite birthday memory (although unfortunately my saddest...) was this past birthday in February, the last one before my mom passed away of cancer. Even though she was so sick, she still used all her strength to finish a quilt that she had been working on for me, and she gave it to me on my birthday. I remember crying, thinking this would probably be the last birthday I spent with her. But that quilt is soooo special to me.

  6. My favorite birthday memory was when I was in the 6th grade. I grew up very poor but this year somehow my mother was able to have me a skating party and invite several of my friends. I one of the best birthdays ever.

  7. when i was 4 i wanted a purple cake with purple frosting with purple ice cream and all my gifts to be purple. apparently i liked the color. so my mom obliged on the food...but couldn't do anything about the gifts after a certain point.
party time came and i wouldn't eat any of it. my grandpa was ticked! he said if i didn't eat any of it then he shouldn't have to either. lol. i think i ate one bite, just so he'd eat his plate. =)

  8. for my 6th birthday, my mother made a pumpkin coach cake and decorated it with a cinderella figurine cake topper. i got a pendant watch and she made me a crown- really just a paper crown from burger king with feathers and buttons glued on it. i also got a nightgown that was my favorite- it was ankle length when i got it and baby-doll length when i had to pass it to my sister. we ate pizza. it was my favorite birthday, until my 40th. my husband took me out for my favorite sandwich then took me to a friend's house where i had a nice surprise- delicious decorated "wedding" cake- i'm allergic to colored dyes- and champagne. i guess i like feeling like a princess on my birthday!

  9. I am not sure how old I was, maybe 5 or 6 when my mom had a party for me with some of the neighborhood kids. We bobbed for apples, played games and of course had cake and ice cream. My brothers are all older than me and they gave my friends piggy back rides and played with all of us. Except me. All I did was sit there and cry. Don't ask me why, I just did. I can remember some of it, but to this day mom will bring it up and we have a good laugh.

  10. Happy birthday Elizabeth. My birthday was this past Monday and I'm ALOT older than you. I have had many nice birthdays, but my favorite was probably when I turned 40. My DH took me to a very expensive restaurant to celebrate this milestone. I also got the usual flowers and jewelry. It was very nice.

  11. My favorite birthday memory was this past birthday, my 28th birthday .. The older two kids made cards and helped their younger brother make a card and they were all just so excited and cute about making sure I had a special day. At the end of the day my oldest, 8, asked me if I had a good birthday, when I told her yes, she said, "Oh good, I'm glad mommy, I wanted you to have a good day like you make me have on my birthday."

  12. My favorite birthday memory was when I was 11 and my mom took me to do my favorite activities: watch a horse show, and eat ice cream. She passed away that year and I will forever remember how she made that final birthday with her special.

  14. I think my favourite birthday was my 21st. I was at Uni and had been having a difficult time with my health (I have M.E). My house mates surprised me by decorating the house, giving me a beautiful bag, baking me a cake and taking me out for the night. My Boyfriend (now Husband) drove down to spend the weekend with me and my parents and sisters surprised me by driving down the next day to visit. I was overwhelmed by peoples love and support. It was so lovely and one of the happiest birthday's I've ever had.

  15. This last birthday was very special. My daughters and husband spoiled me. They all worked so hard that day but would not allow me to life a finger. I got to relax and enjoy the day.

  16. I was probably 6 or 7, and my mom took me and several of my friend to a bigger town to a "Burger Chef". I loved that place because you put all your own stuff on your burgers, LOL. It was so fun back then, and having my own son now, I realize just how much work it was for her to do that (she was a widow). Thanks for getting me to think about that again :)

  17. My favorite birthday was a few years ago when the entire family had arranged a family reunion which happened to coincide with my birthday. I got to see everyone in the family I hadn't seen for years and it was so much fun.
