Wonderland

We were told we were to get a lot of snow and the weather men were right (this time!). Blizzard conditions yesterday, close to a foot of snow, and snow packed roads today meant that instead of heading to my midwife appointment and getting a little shopping done (so hoping to find a rocking chair at the thrift shop!) we have been drinking hot cocoa, making almond bark pretzels, and stocking up at the library on Christmas books and Christmas movies.
Winter has began officially today, which also means that it is the shortest day of the year. Every day from here on out will see a smidgen more light at the end of the day.
With just one weekend before Christmas I imagine everyone is scrambling to finish last minute projects. My goal this weekend is to make sugar cookie cutouts with the kids and finish cleaning up the house as we are hosting Christmas Eve at our house.
I still need to come up with some yummy appetizers to serve on Christmas Eve. Any ideas?
I hope that you all have a relaxing weekend and enjoy it with your family. Let the magic of the season surround you!

  1. I am so glad that life has given you and your family are enjoying the Season.
We will be traveling from the NE to near the midwest, so we are hoping NOT to run into too much snow!
May the Blessings of God surround you this Christmas and all the year through.

  4. Beth, I didn't know you are looking for a rocking chair; we have one at the store right now. And you wouldn't even have to leave town! Aunt Pat

  5. Not at all healthy, but oh, so yummy... In a smallish oven-proof casserole dish mix 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 pkg cream cheese, and 1 small pepperoni stick, sliced and quartered. Bake at 350 until hot and bubbly, stirring once in a while. Serve with slices of crusty bread. :)

Also, enjoy that snow and have a wonderful Christmas!

  7. Carol Ann - Safe blessings on your trip this holiday. Hopefully no more snow this next week (for you or us!).

Anonymous - little smokies are now on the menu and I think chicken nuggets will be as well! Thank you for the suggestions!

Ami- That sounds delicious!! My kids may not go for it but I think all the adults would love it! I wonder if this would work in a crockpot?

  8. God Bless you & yours this season. You have had quite a year, & continue to amaze me.
I call this my "white trash" salad (sorry I am NOT the PC gal)
2 bags frozen corn, mayo to cover, some chopped red onion, grated sharp cheddar to cover, toss, then right before serving, add Chili Cheese Fritos., You will be in Heaven! I have served this to some quite uppity friends & they all swoon!

  10. Lisa-
I want to make that salad just because of the name! Love it - lol! Do you crush up the Fritos or add them whole?

  11. Leave them whole, & add right before serving so they don't get mushy. I have even heard of people letting each person add there own Fritos, but I add to the salad myself. Hope you enjoy!
