Willow and Sage Review and Giveaway
You may have heard of their magazines "Where Women Create" or the "Artful Blogging" that I have mentioned before. They publish several others so there is literally a magazine for everyone. Their newest, "Willow and Sage" is chock full of homemade bath & body products.
The photography is beautiful and eye candy to those who love beauty products, or just those who love photography! While I admit that some of the recipes go over the head of a novice like me (and I wouldn't even attempt them!) there are several DIY projects that are great for anyone to try. Oatmeal Honey Face Scrub, Cooling Cucumber Face Mask, Whipped Coconut Oil, Vanilla Rose Body Scrub, Handmade Washcloths, and many more.
Not only are the projects amazing but the articles are as well. I love MaryJane's Farm books and magazines and products and was thrilled to see her article, "The Art of Bathing" in the Summer 2014 issue. Or reading an article about "Wharton Farms", which started out as a hobby farm and morphed into a bath and body business.
This is a magazine to savor and enjoy several evenings in a row. Sometimes I flip through to ogle the photos. Other times I get enraptured in an article or recipe.
Instead of going into the recycle bin after I finish, like all my other magazines, this will go on my bookshelf. It's so pretty and useful and a great addition to my DIY reference books.
Stampington & Company sent the Summer 2014 Willow & Sage issue to review. They are also graciously offering one lucky reader an issue of Willow and Sage. Just enter the Rafflecopter below (daily!) and the winner will be randomly chosen on June 26th.

The Handy Box Review & Giveaway
It was heavy when I picked it off the porch so I was excited to see what was within!
Included in the pre-launch box was:
*25 Piece Tool Kit with flashlight ($25). This will be perfect to stick in our vehicle for on-the-go needs.
*Compass Key Chain ($5)
*4 AA Duracell batteries ($5)
*10 ft. measuring tape ($5)
*Crank Power LED Flashlight ($10) Perfect for an emergency kit.
*Hex Keyring Set ($5)
This was a nice assortment of items that everyone should have. I think that a box like this would make a perfect gift subscription for someone just moving out on their own as a way to build up their useful tool collection.
The pre-launch box got off to a rocky start with not enough postage being added to the box but I can attest to the wonderful customer service as they immediately contacted everyone, reimbursed postage, and gave an added bonus for the trouble. Sometimes it's customer service that makes or breaks a box, as I know a few subscription box companies that many people warn against solely for their bad customer service. The Handy Box was quick to rectify this mistake and that says a lot about their character.
Do you want a chance to win this exact box? The Handy Box is offering one winner this pre-launch box, so just enter in the widget below for a chance to win!

This Week & Book Winners
It was tough, as we went to a town that the last time we were there was Jacob's birthday. At one point, for no reason in particular, I felt the beginnings of a panic attack.
Though I don't write much about my journey with grief at this point it is there, every single moment of the day. Which is maybe exactly why I don't write about it much. Sometimes, just for a moment, I want to feel normal. That's a thing I don't feel often these days.
*Back to the thrift store shopping. I was finally able to find Becca some jeans. We've been having a hard time as the regular jeans end up being too big and the slim end up being too small. She tried on several different pairs and we found four that fit her! One new with tags Pumpkin Patch jeans and a pair of Joe's jeans even...all for under $2.50 each.
I may not be able to afford a Dyson vacuum but Amy now has one waiting for her for her birthday. :) A little toy Dyson vacuum was just too cute to pass up for $3.88 and when I looked online about them to figure out the wheels on hers I saw that they are $30+ new and actually suck up some bits and pieces! Joe had fun playing with it yesterday and now it is in the closet for Amy's birthday.
I fell in love with a vintage clock. The robin egg blue second hand and the typeset of the numbers spoke to me. It works and found a place in the living room now.
*The winners of the Shades of Mercy book were chosen by Random.org and were number 9, 2, and 6. If your comment is posted below please e-mail your address to me at babys_mama1 "at" yahoo.com and I will get the books sent out this week!

Shades of Mercy & Giveaway
Shades of Mercy by Anita Lustrea and Caryn Rivadeneira is set in the 1950's on a farm in Maine, three topics I love to read about. It's not another fluffy romance, but rather digs deep into the racial tensions of the townspeople and the Indian Tribe of the Maliseets.
I typically don't like books co-authored by two authors or more...the writing style often reflects two different styles of writing and seems disjointed but this book had nothing of that sort. The book flowed along perfectly. The Christian slant to this book flows nicely as well, without being preachy at all except for a chapter in the middle. The romance aspect of the book actually seemed realistic, unlike most romance books. A few things didn't quite add up for me, such as the town's people not liking the Maliseets at all and yet loving the food of a new chef in town, who had a Maliseet working in the kitchen, but I often find little things in books like that which bother me so it isn't held against this book.
I must admit, I read half the book the very day I received it and grabbed moments throughout the next day in order to find out how the book ended. It kept my attention the whole time and I enjoyed the characters. The ending leaves me wondering if this will be the first book in a series as it did end a bit abruptly.
Moody Publishing was generous enough to send three additional copies to give to my readers. With the cold weather upon us this would be a wonderful book to snuggle up in a chair with. I think teens to grandparents would enjoy this story! To enter, just leave a comment below and I will pick three winners on December 4th.

Coconut Oil
It's only been recently that we have switched over from vegetable and canola oil (I will not use these oils at all any more!) and have gone to the good oils: olive oil, safflower oil, and especially coconut oil. The health benefits are amazing and it can stand high temperature frying. We use this for everything from popping popcorn to frying up our taco shells. I go through at least a jar a month!
I was honored when Tropical Traditions wanted to host a review and giveaway on my blog. I was sent a 32 oz. jar of their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil. I had been using the Tropical Traditions cold-pressed coconut oil but had never tried the Gold Label. The gold label has more of a coconut taste and smell and we love this much more than the cold-pressed coconut oil. It works great for all our cooking/baking/frying needs and also is wonderful for our health and beauty needs.
Want a chance to win a 32 oz. bottle of their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil? Use the form at the end of the post to enter!

Rock the Laundry
For those who aren't so keen on laundry, why not rock up your laundry room? Rockin' Green makes all natural laundry detergent. It is often marketed for cloth diaper washing (and it works great for that!) but I'm still using it even though we no longer have any babies in diapers (the first time in 8 years that diapers have not been needed in our house!). I use it for washing our clothing and love, love, love the scents and the way it washes our clothing.
Even though I already use Rockin' Green, I was sent three samples to try. I'm happy about that as I was able to try some new (to me) scents. Motley Clean is my new favorite!! What a fresh, original scent! Some other great formulas are Femme Rock which is for all those cloth menstrual pad mamas and Dog House Rock which is for pet beds and toys.
You can read my last review of Rockin' Green here.
Now for the fun part! Rockin' Green is offering one lucky winner a bag of 40/90 in your choice of formula/scent. Leave a comment below telling me whether you love/hate laundry. One winner will be chosen through Random.org on Saturday, March 3rd. If you would like additional entries, tweet, Facebook, or blog about this giveaway, linking back to here. Enter additional comments below letting me know you did so (one additional comment per additional entry).

Cute? No, Adorable!
We both share a passion for clothing. We both especially like "girly" outfits and bright colors. Wild designs and crazy patterns. Imagine our delight when ZAZA Couture sent a dress to be reviewed. The clothing that ZAZA Couture makes matches our style to a "T". I could start drooling when I look at the clothing on their site! Their clothing, by the way, can be found at several specialty boutiques across the US or at different internet boutiques.
The dress they sent to be reviewed is from the Summer 2011 collection "Hummingbird". It is cute, stylish, and BRIGHT - I love bright clothing for children! The clothing is well made and the material is excellent - lightweight for summer but quality. Becca oohed and ahhed as she opened up the package and saw her dress and she instantly wanted to try it on. She fluttered and danced around - quite like a hummingbird! It is a very eye catching dress and has quickly become a favorite in this house.
Do you have a daughter nearing size 4? A granddaughter? A friend with a daughter? ZAZA Couture has so graciously sent me two brand new dresses for a giveaway, which means that TWO readers will have the chance to win a dress in size 4 for their daughter! It will be a surprise which one I send to which winner! :)
But wait, there is more! If you would like additional entries, you can 1. twitter the link to this post 2. Link back to this post on your Facebook, and 3. post about this giveaway on your blog. For EACH additional entry that you do please leave an additional comment below. That gives you up to 4 entries into this giveaway.
Winners will be chosen through Random.org on Saturday, July 9th. Good luck!

Heavenly Smells
I also have three children and pets so there are times when I want my house to smell like something other than them! All you candle lovers know that it is difficult to find a candle that actually smells good while burning, much less one that surrounds your home in it's scent. Very few of them actually do.
My husband would tell you that he is tired of my candle addiction because I almost always say to him, once we are upstairs and ready for bed "Did I remember to blow the candle out?!" He groans and stumbles down the steps to check...I really don't think he enjoys that part of candles!
I was thrilled to have found Scentsy candle products and thrilled to test them out and review them for you! They smell wonderful and there is a boat load of scents to choose from. They envelope the house with their scent (I can smell these even when upstairs, and yet the scent is not overwhelming when even in the same room as them). And best of all, they are wickless candles and instead are melted in beautiful warmers.
I was first introduced to Scentsy when someone at Jacob's Benefit gave him a Scentsy Buddy; these are the coolest stuffed animals and make the whole bedroom smell delish! What Jacob likes best about these is that he takes it along with him to the hospital and it brings him a sense of comfort...the scent helps cover the smell of a hospital and it starts to smell like home.
I am in love with these candles and can't wait to try more scents. I was able to find a couple bars at a garage sale so those new scents will tide me over until I'm invited to a Scentsy party (or host one of my own!).
Scentsy is offering someone the chance to win a full or mid-size warmer and their choice of three bars. All you need to do to enter is leave a comment here. For additional entries you can 1. tweet about this giveaway with a link back to here, 2. Add a link back to here on your Facebook, 3. Write about this giveaway on your blog. Each of those will earn you an additional entry, so be sure to come back here and leave additional comments for each extra entry you participate in. Winner will be chosen through random.org on Saturday, June 25th. Good Luck!
